In my opinion there are two categories of incentives. Incentives material increase in salaries and wages and bonuses. I believe in order to motivate employee's at any level of the organisation that you as Project Leader need to determine where each member stands on Maslows Hierarchy of Needs and try and guide them to the pinnacle of self actualisation. Also in order to motivate your team you need to instil the four basis needs of your followers which is Trust,Compassion,Hope and Stability.Team building events such a day trips is also another great way of motivating and bonding your team.

I believe any senior employee is allocated works which they expert to perform based on their qualifications & experience would give a greater motivation. Then only achieve the dual purpose of motivator which satisfy organisation's objectives and employees satisfaction via their greater attention & recognition.
