I think people are confuse between challenged student and challenging student. challenged student (mentally or physically) is one who have less IQ in comparison to the other students.this what a precis term or have some physical disability and take more time to learn and grab the things. sometimes some students even though with normal IQ but disturbed due to family atmosphere or due to some other social problem and not learning or showing interest in the learning. They may have psychological problem like maladjustment anxiety etc and getting more time to learn what ever has been taught.
In my opinion a challenging student is the one who is having lack of interest in studies or who don`t want to study and you have to change his/her mind regarding studies.
A challenging student is the one that shows negative behavior to either teachers and peers due to misconceptions about the learning process.
I think a majority of the problem is pointing blame. A challenging student could be going through a bad time at home or in their lives. A challenging student may be a parent or even a child with a learning disability. I like to believe that students are not challenging but simply need help. Ilike to talk to the student one to one and put my coaching cap on. This will help you realise the issue and also help the student find a way out of that situation. We have to remember our schools simply herd sheep into a funnel with limited options that aren't for everyone and a majority of the time the student does not realise they have other options because this has been drilled into them from childhood. Lets give them the benefit of the doubt and ask them what is troubling them or better still what we can do to help them.....
a challenging student is one who not afraid from the work which has put on him,and when a teacher make a mistake he tell the teacher that he has some confusion in mind regarding this answer.he tries for that question while other his fellows lose hope.
