No, there is free material online to help with language and other subjects. As a teacher I would figure out which is the best site and advise the children to use it.

www.openculture.com

www.ixl.com

There are many sites available to help. Please don't advise kids to watch television, its not the best route for kids to learn. Maybe adults but not kids.

Language learning is interactive and best achieved if its a guided activity.

Clearly indicate the objectives of the language activity. so students know what to expect.

If you intend to develop phonetic or articulation skills, select movie clippings or songs can be played in class to help students comprehend the use of vowel or consonant sounds. This will also help hone their listening skills and improve their diction & speech.

We should  take it serious while teaching English Language  that language is never a modicum for teaching. Language  can never be taught it is  introduced and when you introduce it  you should follow its programs in  integrative way . It goes introducing through English Phone , para language, semantics , and syntax. Once you have introduced them all about these bases , students  come up in a cultural way feeling English like their mother  tongue. Naturally they are switched on to speak out English, and now they will be habitual speakers like natives, because language is a habit.
