I would rather say that it's2 skills you need to have.
First is listen, every customer wants something, let him speak and listen to define his problem.
Second but also important is to provide an accurate and quick solution, avoid directing the customer to not needed actions and persons, if you know the solution point the customer towards it, otherwise: ask, get informed, be positive that you got the solution then advise the customer.
One last thing i would like to point out to you is praise the customers with a complaint, it looks weird but these are the customers that are loyal and want to stay with your company or product, the one's that don't complain are usually lost and and you don't have a chance of saving them and retaining them with your company or product.
