An equal mix of Employee Empowerment and Control at the right time will positively influence Organizational Performance.
Usually both of these co-exist under Managers/Management purview, however if Junior management is granted empowerment, there must be a control mechanism to review decisions made by these managers.
This is to ensure that performance is driven towards organizational goals.

Employee empowerment will increase performance.
There are so many great examples in the world how empowerment affects innovation, performance, overall satisfaction etc.
It is about wellbeing at work.
From the company point of view it increases sales, customer satisfaction, improves image etc.
I work as a consultant in this area and I have seen miracles happen!

We are legally obliged to control certain areas of our business and have really no choice on this matter.
However in terms of people management, empowerment means that employees have the training, tools and authority to act in a wide range of situations.
Therefore an environment that is over-controlled is a clear limitation to the performance of any business (because employees are limited in their ability to act).
It often reflects an environment of insecure management that does not trust its own ability (to enable employees) or that of their teams.

I believe employee empowerment with certain control….
These days management style has been changed….leaders provide (measureable) room to their subordinates to work independently and take decision….this will provide them a good chance to judge employees’ performance and their leadership skills….but room must be and should be measureable and leader should keep in mind the consequences of failure of their subordinates… it’s like allow your fish to swim in a big pound but does allow your fish to jump into the blue ocean…..
On the other side employee empowerment will accelerate employees’ commitment, energize their motivation level and employees will consider themselves as a young/fresh entrepreneurs (a captain of ship) and we all know captain of ship will stay on-board until ship reach to the harbor….

I believ in employee empowerment because it gives the empoyee tools and authority to help him in achieving his goal that will lead to achieving departmental then organizational goals.
Employee empowerment means that he will be accountable for all of his actions and desicions and that is the where the employee control falls.
Empowerment and control comes one after the other so both influence the organizational performance.

I think both ways shall be implemented.
using employees empowerment only may create some conflicts in authority between them.
on the other hand control usually means very tight procedures and regulations which may kill the creativity and motivation among employees.
just we need to mix both ways to insure that the employee empowerment is controlled to achieve the organization final targets.

I think their should be balance between both, excessive empowerment might lead to lose of control and excessive control can lead to disatisfaction

it would depend upon the at which stage the company is in.
A growing company needs to employee empowerment and a mature company needs more processes
