Quality assurance is more process driven. This means that there are a set list of procedures that help to maintain a high level of quality. If followed, theses procedures eliminate unnecessary mistakes before making something.

Quality control can best be explained as capturing defects and non-conformances before they get used or shipped. This is often done by testing (FAT = Factory Acceptance Test) or measuring by quality control personnel to make sure items are with in specified tolerances (on a machined part, for example).

So, in short, Quality Assurance is geared to catching mistakes before they happen.

Quality control is catching them after they happen and before they get to the client or end user.

QA is a set of activities for ensuring quality in the processes by which products are developed.

QC is a set of activities for ensuring quality in products. The activities focus on identifying defects in the actual products produced.

Thanks for all colleagues.

In brief, QA is responsible of preventing mistakes before they happen.

QC is catching bad final product units after they happen and before they get to the end user.

Quality control focuses on finding defects or anomalies in the deliverables and checking if the defined requirements are the right requirements. Testing is one example of a quality control activity, but there are many more such activities that make up quality control.

Quality assurance ensures that the process is well defined and appropriate. Some examples of quality assurance are methodology and standards development. Any quality assurance review would typically focus on the process aspect of a project or task, for example, are requirements being defined at a level of detail that is accepted and proper.
