Yes, i must question my auditor and get a written communication why it was not properly checked during the time of auditing and i will explain the situation to my seniors to get a permanent soultion for the problem which it will not happen again, so i will recommend for a quick check list to be consider while doing auditing.
Yes , I have to ask the auditor , as he is the one responsiple for the issuing balance sheet. Therefore , my steps are:
First, check the mistake with the immediate superviore and get a solution.
Second, request the auditor to do the required reconcialition even if it was in the previous year.

if the mistake is grave and could be easly recogized accourding to audit rules i will ask for clearfication
if the mistake is simple and couldn't be recogized easly i will not ask

From my point of view yes we can, it is so because audits are conducted to inspect error free statements and financial, therefore to be accuarte in figures we can clarify all the odds with auditors to statement accuracy.
