In UAE on normal conditions: OT is paid mostly for workers and some companies they do give for site supervisors. working hours is8 hrs /day and not to exceed48 hours /week. A maximum of two hours shall be allowed to work as OT in a day. Anything above8 hours shall be calculated as OT.
OT Calculation : Hours X1.25 times of his wages during normal days.
OT calculation (Fridays): Hours X1.5 times of his wages.
Over time will be double not more than06 hours per day. But it depends on organization to organization. It should not be more than20% of gross salary.
In South Africa, there are no fix amount and hours for overtime. Public holidays, its double.
we pay overtime ==Basic salary x1.5 (hourly rate) x(no. of OT hours) divided by40 hrs(office hours) for shift workers you divide by48 hrs for example john is earning43,000 shs as basic, you calculate it as43,000*1.5/40=1612.5*14 OT hrs=22,575 is the total OT before tax.
for a person to qualify for OT he must have worked for40 + hours for office hours and48+ hours for shift workers.
sundays/hoildays its x2
no fixed hours but its subject to approval or emergencies.
