FD( Force Draft) Fan takes Suction from Atmosphere & then through Air-PRE-Heater ( Air Temperature Increases ), fed in the Air-Box to Boiler/Furnace.Produce Force/Positive Draft in Boiler.

2ndly it is used for Complete Combustion ( It gives Excess Air)  of Fuel Coal/Oil/Bio in boiler, due to which Boiler Efficiency Increases, at the same time ESP load reduces, ID Fan Erosion reduces most important Atmospheric Pollution Reduces.

But  ID ( Induced Draft ) Fan produces induced Draft/ Negative Draft on Boiler/Furnace.

In Boiler Furnace area are kept0-5 mmwc.ID takes the flue gas from furnace through different heat exchanger(Superheater,Air pre-Heater,Economiser,ESP) in chimney, finally in to the atmosphere.

Both are important in boiler Operation almost equally But both are opposity in terms of DRAFT are concerned....
