asking them to saves alot of vocabulary this will help them .
To me, and I do this with my own child, is to let them read higher order books, with a dictionary next to them. if they do not understand a word, they look it up and get to know the meaning. this might seem to be time consuming, but it works.
Another way is word association with pictures. You show a picture, and the students must use words describing the different aspects in the picture, e.g. huge, large tall building/ skyscraper.
First, the students should notice the new word by the help of their teacher in
different funy ways, then they will recognize it by the help also and finally, they
will be able to recognize it and use it in some examples by their own.
