Brother,

As far as what i think is that we have concentrate more on other benefits rather than basic salary.. because fringe benefits are more valuable as compare to net salary if we are talking about on overseas employment.

So i recommend we should tell straight on salary expectation and show more interest on other benefits..

Good Luck

First of you must be prepared in advance for such question to be asked from employer, secondly you must have comparision of benefits offered with your existing one and then prolonge the answer if you need any clarifications from employer regarding taxes, deductions and other benefits.

In my experience when they asking this question initially answer them to follow their company policy and standards and Incase asking again the same question tell them only little bit higher than the salary in your mind.. Even after those required your profile then they negotiate it and bring you the right salary they can pay,,,

I tackle the question by defining what I think is reasonable and by asking what they have in mind, if the gap is high talk about the difference. If you are good and direct they know what to expect and how to deal.

To be honest, first of all you should be open minded. Tell them for you first prioirity is to be part of that company, to integrate with people working there, to make your own input to the value of company.

Salary for a probation period name them just minimum you can manage to live.

After probation period - when they see you and you see the company you can seat and discuss real salary for your future work in that company.
