Email marketing is not more effective to reach potential users. because it is like a buzz marketing. Most of the user fell angry when he or she get email. and most of the email are reached to user as spam.

Twitter marketing can be used to reach a large base of customer sincce it's open to all but lacks personalization whch can be done through e-mail marketing.

Major hindrance using twitter marketing is number of characters that can be used is less and one has to be very concise and sharp in articulating his message. Whereas in email marketing you don;t have such limitations and effort is used in communicating to target audience.

But one advantage of twitter is it can be used as a platform to create buzz in internet, i.e it can go viral.

Keeping this in mind depending on our objective we need to choose our marketing strategy.

In nutshell, if we know our target segment/audience and we wish to give a touch of personalization go for e-mail marketing.

If you want to reach out to public and create a buzz use twitter.

Each has its own benefits. in E-mail marketing the marketing is a more direct approach but a potential client or customer may perceive it as spam or brand invasion of privacy. Where as a social media platform for communication is judged upon the more likes or responses it gets, thus a potential client or customer may be wooed by the generation of response. I feel twitter has an edge over e-mail due its simplicity of communication.
