In my opinion HR professionals need to build strong base on three pillars. HR knowledge, Finance knowledge and most importantly Business knowledge. If your aim is to go global you must have GPHR certification that can help you long way. Secondly MBA or equivalent with courses of Financial Accounting and Financial Management can help you understand the ratios like ROI, budgeting and books of accounts to keep yourself on the right track. Thirdly I would always suggest to do PMP because it will definitely help you to understand the projects and to support your management in a more strategic way.
