Periodic meeting are important. Not only because the team is kept abreast of what is happening in the department, but also, as manager you will improve your own visibility of any issues that have arisen or will arise.  Issues could be of many different natures, some will be supplier related, company and/or  finance. But important it is to mention that personal issues among the members of your team could also be identified.

Regarding solutions... I do believe that solutions must be applied as quickly as possible. However, the quality of the solution is also important. Therefore, balance between quality and speed of implementation must be achieved; and a good manager will have a sense of the balance required to effectively resolve a problem.

I also applied one-on-one meetings with my staff from time to time (not very often). I believe it is important to have these meetings in order to discover and/or evaluate issues that might not appear in your periodical departmental meetings.

As a manager/head of department, it is impertinent to conduct periodic meetings to ensure that all members of the department are carried along in the running of the affairs oif the department.

As the Manager or Head of the Dept., holding periodic meeting is good.  But it is better to have an open approach with your subordinates, so that they come to you immediately if they face a problem, than waiting for the meeting to discuss it.    This way, you can detect the problem in the infancy stage, before it worsens to find solutions at that point, which may be too complicated and wastage of time.

As a manager I should know the problems as they happend and I should identify solutions as soon as possible. That doen't mean to say that periodical meeting are not required but they are required to monitor performance and plan for the future.

Period meetings play very important role in performance of the staff and managers in any institution. In such metings the managers play pivotal role. They clarify the objectives of the institution and the staff understand their role for achieving the targets. Day to day normal problems are discussed and timely solutions are given in these meetings. The communicaion between managers and staff remains intact and both will not face any problem in achievment of the targets.
