That is possibly happening. In the context of " work environment", social interaction is highly important as each departments/job sections are interdependent to one another. Your "attitude" towards work is highly counted more than the amount of information stored inside your brain, therefore you can be seen as highly competitive based on the way you interact and react to situations, the way you communicate your ideas & listen to your superior/colleagues/subordinates. But to some extent, some works require high intelligence regardless of your emotional capabilities to deal with people
