This is not always used established processes to ensure that the correct action is taken.
The procedure to ensure the correct decision is defending on the situation; however planning is the main key of the decision making of one problem which can be solve in best manner by following process, which are 1.Understand the problem/Situation 2.
Evaluate alternative/options 3.
Fuse results/Choose 4.
Decide what to do next/act 5.
Evaluate

but depends on what procedure you follow to ensure the correct action is taken with no recurrence of its root cause.

Its an ELASTIC question, in which CORRECT ACTION(S), can be evaluated at the time when you have all inputs & data, But at general concept we should implement all necessary professional criteria(s) once we manage our daily BUSINESS, but I believed that GOOD COMMUNICATION is the best way to assure that all necessary action(s) requested from my side have been taken.
