When do you hire for attitude and when for skills?

Hiring for attitude and training for skills is a good policy to follow. However, often companies do not have the luxury of time to train. Or, talent of the right attitude is hard to find. Is there a balance somewhere?

Regardless; you hire for attitude and knowledge; they can not be separated.   A person must have a willingness or success, learning, and engagement will not be realized.  People must understand the difference of arrogance and confidence. The most successful are those with knowledge, confidence and a willingness to share this knowledge.
