Is there a way to capture a window Image in Linux?

Is there a way to capture a window Image in Linux rather importing all screen shot.It will be helpful if any one can point a .so similar to user32.dll in windows

Sorry for not clarifying the question.What I required is to get a picture of a window.Like screen short will give entire screens Image,It is not a good idea to get entire screen when it requires to look only a  portion of the window need to be captured..

I implemented it using C program and X11 functions.

Yes, download and install virtualbox from http://www.virtualbox.org .
This application is same as virtual pc, then you can install windows or any other OS.
If this is what u requested.
Or please elaborate your question in depth.
