If chlorine is not added sufficiently at the dosing point and it has to go upto 23km to the point of use, there will be mininal FRC.Therefor e the distance should be a big factor when considering the rate of dosing.Monitoring the FRC will be of great importance upto the point of use of water. The requred FRC level in drinking water is from0.2 mg/l upto 4.0 mg/l as per the WHO standards.Any water with FRC below 0.2 is vulnerable to bacterial attack.

However maintaining the FRC level at the household level is a challenge in that it depends with the storage conditions, cleanliness of the storage containers and the age of water after fetching at a given tapstand.
