We can consider that the warehouse manager is a successful one, when he implements few standards and KPI's and rules, and keep running them on to ensure the continuous development of warehouse productivity.
Now, what are the standards the successful warehouse manager should create (according to his business nature) and implement continuously? The following are some of them:1 - Number of accidents inside the warehouse: putting this number under magnifier, and analyzing it, then placing the preventive procedures like: wearing safety wear, following safety procedures ....
all those procedures will reduce this indicator (number of accidents) and increase the productivity by keeping the number of workers complete.2 - The cost of executing any operation: This includes: - studying the time of executing the operation and studying the motions used to finalize it.
- Eliminating any unnecessary motions will save the time and money and increase the productivity of warehouse management.
- Creating and implementing KPI's for each operation will also will increase the skills of the workers, and you note that after placing the KPI of specific task, the outcome of the employee will reach that figure and will exceed it after a time, then this KPI should also be audited and increase to meet the increase of the employees skills.3 - Making the assessment of workers depends on calculated figures: this means that the right assessment of the employee should be based on the numbers he got, like: sick leaves, normal vacations used, hours of overtime achieved, praising letters, punishment letters ..
.4 - Number of shipments loaded per week, and number of wrong loaded shipments as well (which reflects the accuracy of the work and preventive procedures taken every time).
As much as the warehouse manager succeed to follow the above procedures and indicators, as much as you can consider him successful in his job.
