When one works in a field they don't like. How can one convince employers that they will succeed in other fields so that they can get a chance?

If the person started working in a field due to uncontrollable conditions. After years of experience they finally get the chance to choose a field that they actually would enjoy working in. How can the individual convince potential employers to trust that they in fact will be a good addition to their companies?
