A marketing specialist or professional may focus on any number of things including: storytelling, content creation, market analysis, field testing, focus group feedback, social media management, twitter campaigns, running the client’s blog, working on SEO, analyzing ROI, business coaching, Google+ training, YouTube video production and much more. The data received should aid in the business owner’s ability to understand how to produce sales but sales might not come from each of the marketing efforts. Sales should always be the goal, however, as no business can thrive without them.
A great sales person who deliver on the promises made. Sales people will typically work on commission and if they spend twenty hours working, with no sales, they earn nothing. No bills get paid. No kids get fed. No gas gets put in the car.
Most companies which has set Objectives of how each department operates & clearly defines how operations has to follow does n't face this problem.
Most are those which woke up from sleep to initiate the Marketing division or new companies which has to create a Marketing division where "Employees" or mostly the senior management who doesn't realize or unable to understand the classification or the importance or significance to clearly define the "Who does what syndrome" would face the problem or be blind folded towards it thus resulting in 'Catastrophic failure' & employees too working blindly.
This level is alarming to the companies long term objective & profitably moving towards it's goals.
:-)
Because they only have a short term view and no long term view of business.
This is exactly the problem now with my current company. Managers are finding it hard to differentiate the duties of marketing and sales. They find that it goes hand in hand which I personally don't agree with. As an administrator and support personnel I have laid out the duties of each department. Marketing team markets our products (through various channels) and sales team does the follow up. We are finding that it is easier that way and minimizes the redundant tasks.
Perhaps it is strange, but their are many companies who do not even differentiate between Marketing and Sales.
In many Arab companies, they usually use the same word for both different fields. How many times they use the word "Tasweeq" for sales????
well a sales does customer care for an item or service the client has or has not decided upon yet marketing is sometimes for a product or service the client has no idea where to find it or whether he really needs it.
Overlap in the majors does not allow a distinction
Perhaps the fact that sales is part of the marketing
I agree with all EXPERTS ,, also MR zafar abbas minhas gave the answer i was willing to add to this question. thanks.
they don't have the enough awareness about each position and they don't know why to pay to marketers salaries and marketing budgets while they don't give anything tangible!
Simply because many consider the responsibilities of a marketer and a salesperson to be more or less the same- to generate more revenue.
