The Passage of time is one reason. Buildings also collapse due to weak foundations. Earthquakes, hurricanes and other natural disasters can also damage the structure of the buildings and cause it to collapse. Bombings or demolition of buildings is also other reasons.

Faulty designs , earth quakes , soil liquification , weak foundation

causes of building collaps:

demolition trough explosives.

faulty design (look at google at edificio space Medellin: design faults!)

earthquakes, maybe you can also put that under faulty design if you knew where the design is built.

soil liquification , due to earthquakes

hurricanes and typhoons, maybe you can also put that under faulty design if you knew where the design is built.

But also , modifications in the design during building phase, very dangerous if you do not follow all the steps.

faulty design

faulty implementation

abnormal unexpected forces (earth quack - strong wind - fire -etc)

In civil engineering the main reason of buildings easily collapsing is poor workmanship. For example the only thing that holds a build is just to make sure that it is  resting or built  on its weight as for places where there is no earth quakes. Other reasons are blasts, poor concrete rationing , poor re bars or steel fixing, poor form works, or natural disasters.

The causes of building collapse can be classified under general headings to facilitate analysis. These headings are: • Bad Design • Faulty Construction • Foundation Failure • Extraordinary Loads • Unexpected Failure Modes • Combination of Causes
