Cell AZ99 is in sheet 7 and book1.xls , can I reach whatever the value is in that cell ( without ) opening book1.xlsx and add it to book2.xlsx?

Open both books

In Book2 select the cell where you want to put the value

Press = (as writing formula)

Use mouse to select Book1 from task bar, go to sheet7 and cell AZ99

Press enter

 

You will have reference like this in your formula bar: ='C:\\Users\\Documents\\[Worksheet2.xlsx]Sheet1'!$E$3

 

Modify over reference to match your path
