All you need are four things:
1- A thorough knowledge of your products or services.

2- A firm commitment to work hard and to invest the time and effort it will take to become successful.
Some people think that an eight-hour workday represents four hours of overtime, while others regularly work up to 16 hours a day.
Andrew Carnegie, one of the most successful industrialists ever born, had the philosophy that, “Anything worth having is worth working for.” Good advice.

3- A winning attitude.
Some folks come by a positive mental attitude naturally.
Most of us, however, have to work at it.
Train yourself to think positively.
Yes, it can be a challenge, but it is possible.
The more positive your attitude, the more successful you will be.

4- A mastery of the basic, fundamental techniques of successful selling.
They are ancient, universal … and they work.
Yes, new techniques and methods come around every year like Christmas and Easter.
However, the basics NEVER change.
They have been proven over the centuries to be successful for countless numbers of sales professionals and others.
These ideas should be thoroughly learned, step by step.
Most of all, they should be understood.
If you understand the purpose of each step in the successful sales process, you will be able to apply it with more conviction than if you simply view it as a step to be blindly followed.

Being a sales professional means knowing you are a salesperson, honoring your occupation and making the customer's needs primary.
"Most people buy not because their believe, but because the salesman believes." Do you need a passion to excel? Absolutely! Five ingredients are necessary for building a successful career in sales.
INTEREST First you must have an interest in selling insurance.
You have made the decision to develop, practice and apply all the information available to bring you the utmost success.
ATTITUDE A common denominator of many great salespeople, both past and present, is the right attitude.
Remember that there are only two kinds of people in the world: those who think they can and those who think they can't.
They're both right.
ENERGY Energy is developing your capacity to succeed by improving a little everyday.
Without it, you are like the car that remains in neutral-you go nowhere.
Successful sales often work long hours because they love what they do.
METHOD Salespeople are not born, they are taught.
You must have a precise, step-by-step procedure that covers all the points in the selling process, leaving nothing to chance.
Before making a purchase, prospects consider five buying decisions: 1.
Salesperson -- Do I trust this person? Does he or she have integrity and good judgment! 2.
Company -- Will the company back up what the salesperson is telling me! 3.
Product/Service--Do I need it! Will it solve a problem 4.
Price--Does the price represent a good value? 5.
Time to buy -- Is this the right time to buy? Am I ready Your job is to guide your prospects smoothly through these buying decisions.
Of course.
there are many more points to understand about selling, and your future depends upon your knowledge of them.
Having abundant interest, a positive attitude and energy is great, but without the sales know-how, you will not find success.
SUCCESS There is marvelous self satisfaction in accomplishing something that is important to you.
Forming the habit of doing what is necessary, although you might not like it, separates winners from the unsuccessful.
Sales pros know that the old hard-sell concept has been replaced by sales professionalism.
To become a star producer you must focus on building relationships and providing superior service, on setting goals and developing methods to reach them.

Simple and Short answer: To be good at sales and being successful is having belief in what are you selling, if you don;t believe in it you simply can't sell it.
Another thing, you need to hunt and locate the "right people" who would find this product or service most useful cause if you sold it to someone who doesn't need it there will be good feedback, and good feedback means publicity which means more successful salesman/woman and that mean a better career in sales.

I have come across many who found themselves in sales and even after working for few years they do not know what they are doing here.
There are few who have no choice other than becoming sales person.
I will try to advice for all above with the hope it works for them.
Starting from entry levels (of salesmanship) you have option to be CEO.
The task is continued efforts to be great in your profession, everything will eventually fall into place.
If you are good salesperson in your company never forget your efforts are “hurting” your competition – they would watch your every move.
This implies that you are building your “professional credibility” which eventually will place you in getting “better’ offers.
If you want to move then make sure about “growth” potential more than the perks they offer.
Never forget any perks the company offers to you will remain with you as long as you play ball and achieve your targets – you don’t let it get into your head.
1.
Salesmanship is the profession where your ethnicity, religion colure or creed does not matter as long as you have achieved you “given” target.
To me this is great for all those who are on their own and are entering this world to earn living for themselves and their families.
Interestingly entire world needs sales and salesmanship no matter what you do and where you are.
2.
You must work hard to master your product knowledge.
You must know 100% whatever information is given on your brochure – you will lose the interest of your perspective customer and his respect the moment he realizes that you do not know what is written in your brochure (and you expect him to read and learn – why).
But, if you are “new” and you stumble in your presentation, do not worry, they will understand and “help” you.
3.
You must work hard to learn and make yourself familiar with the “territory” you have been assigned.
You must know the customers by name, what their children and doing – the human relation perspective.
4.
Never discuss religious and politics, with your customers no matter what.
Not even come out with any comment, if the discussion is, on Just declare you do not understand these things and are more concerned about your job and your professional succeed.
5.
Salesmanship is a 24/7 passion to achieve, it’s not a 9-5 job.
6.
Never “try” to cheat your customers as they are your “only” asset of your professional life.
You will need them when you go back to them if you leave one company and join the other.
Note.
