Most of us don't use all office functions and features so

there are3 Famous alternatives  :

1 - Google Drive

2 - Apache OpenOffice

3 - LibreOffice

Note

1 - be careful from different extensions of the documents files

2 - the3 alternative work on the3 Famous operating system

If your a Window OS base user then i guess nothing can beat Microsoft Office, but there are lots of good software act just like it such  in Ubuntu OS they is bundled with LibreOffice which is pretty good and also suitable for Mac OS and Window OS. The Mac OS you can use NeoOffice or Appleworks.
