True or False: The purpose of holding inventory in distribution centers is to improve customer service by locating stock near the customer?

 

And to reduce transportation costs by allowing the manufacturer to ship full loads rather than part loads over long distances.

True : One of the purpose of holding inventory in distribution centers is to improve customer service by locating stock near the customer.

Having inventory near the customer helps to manage the variations in supply and demand especially in retail.

it will improve companys stock accuracy and  if stock accuracy there of cource customer service will be good..so my answer is100% true...

to hold inventory is to see if your system is correct and you do actually have the items in stock which your computer system claims you have...

 it is not to locate merchandise near the customer unless you have a facility close to the customer

it is to keep your system up dated ... your balances in check ...  having the correct inventory on hand can improve customer service in regards of making complete shipments the statement would be true
