Qualification is the plat form to get expertise in profession whereas experience speaks in critical situations. One can easily identify the persons experience by how the things he handle.
I think that the time we depend on skills only has passed, other wise we can ignore all universities and certificates and and depend on smart people. Also, it is not easy to bypass the whole progress in warehouse management by depending on individual success. Actually the personals skills are very important, but it MUST accompanied and developed with the newest theories and inventions.
If you asked me about the suitable warehouse manager, I can confirm that he should have few years of experience, strengthened by few courses in warehouse management.
educational background for a candidate to a warehouse manager position is of a great interest, nevertheless his professional experience sometime overcomes his education. nowadays warehousing has became a science and is being taught as a major that stands by it self at universities.
as for me my decision is70% work experience30% study ,in case of relevant study.
otherwise its more as work experience
I don't hire people. But in case I'd hire I would do it looking for a balance between knowledges and experience. Creativity? It depends on the mentality of the person that hires. If he is keen to innovators or if he just want a person to control warehouse and storage as HE thinks it has to be done.
Availability2 conditions and must not neglect the one where that rely solely on the study will lead to a big gap in solving problems and making daily decisions and rely only on practical experience will lead to the loss of core labor standards which creates random in decision-making
Dear Fadi,
I think it's mostly a mix of both. However, a candidate with experience and quantifiable creativity is always preferred over an applicant with a degree and no experience. The reason is that employer is looking to fill a position with a candidate who can 'hit the ground running' and on whom company does not need to spend time and effort to teach him the practicality of his job.
