Root Cause or Fish Bone Approach is the best tool to resolve business related problems. When root cause study is conducted every factor effecting Business directly or indirectly is under your eye scan. All Business drivers are scanned in sequential way with which any hindrance gets highlighted ,causes backing up problems gets highlighted and moreover area of improvements are also highlighted. Therefore with solving of problems existing system becomes more strong .

There are various problem solving techniques available to solve work related problems, but it will be best to ensure that a mistake proofed solution is implemented, not just a quick fix.

The first step will be to define the problem and identify possible causes.

Further application will differ based on the complexity and urgency of the problem at hand.

  • Small problems requiring quick resolution can be solved through discussion, data collection and techniques such as5Whys
  • More complex issues may require brainstorming, Root cause analysis, VSM, Quality Clinic Process charts, Mistake proofed Improvement Action Plans and Market Feedback Analysis

Deming's PDCA cycle is good approach for continuous process improvements.

Ultimately a check needs to be implemented to ensure the implemented action has indeed resolved the problem and is not a temporary fix.

Ultimately there is no 'one size fits all' approach to problem solving.
