For better understanding of Engineering basics,i would recommend the books of Dr. Bungale S. Taranath which are : Reinforced concrete design of tall buildings and the other book about composite structures . These books are very useful specially the former because they explain basic engineering concepts in a very easy yet accurate way. They are considered as references for all engineers because they also detail the new published codes.

Also you should consider the books which subject is reinforced concrete only which are numerous but for me the book of Jack McCormac are the best because he uses the equations for both systems (empirical and SI).

If u like my answer plz vote it up ! Thank you.
