On a personal level, long hours and keeping morals up with a smile facing more and more demanding customers/guests. 

 

On a business level, location and branding and the right pricing for the business owners, not to mention cracking the code to always give an excellent service at the best value.

I worked in a similar field . The challenge when the customers were taken in charge by another colleagues who couldn't soft the mood of the customer , so he relies on you to make things better as he knows you have a softer sides for instance and you can make him happy  and just again . So the challenge here is that you have to deal with that embarrassment .

Long hours (you gonna spend over 12 hrs per shift on your feet. having problems with your back, feet or achy joints? you'd better opt for another job).What I also find challenging about the job of a hospitality manager is that you get to manage different people. Some of them are hard-working, like interns from some hotel management schools you sometimes get to supervise, such as those from Les Roches Chicago, but others are good at their job but are lazy, and sometimes you have to crack the whip to make them work. Otherwise, you face another challenge – firing people, which is especially hard for someone who is just starting out as a manager.
