Agreed with the answer, Mr. Abdul Samad Nadeem Malik
A boss creates fear, a leader confidence. A boss fixes blame, a leader corrects mistakes. A boss knows all, a leader asks questions. A boss makes work drudgery, a leader makes it interesting.. ~ Russel H. Ewing
Leader leads from the front by setting practical examples for his team whereas Boss just give instructions to perform the specific task.Boss cannot be a Leader until he possess charismatic qualities.
Leaders are better & greater than Boss not because of their powers, but because of their ability to empower others.
The difference between being a boss and being a leader may seem small, but it means the world to the people who work for you.
1. A boss knows it all; a leader is always learning.
2. A boss gives answers; a leader seeks solutions.
3. A boss talks more than listens; a leader listens more than talks.
4. A boss directs; a leader coaches.
5. A boss criticizes; a leader encourages.
6. A boss identifies weaknesses; a leader identifies natural gifts.
7. A boss is all about "me;" a leader is all about "we."
8. A boss places blame; a leader takes accountability.
9. A boss protects his/her ego; a leader reveals his/her vulnerability.
10. A boss demands results; a leader inspires performance.
Difference is same as between Demand/Command Vs Respect/emphatic , Dictator Vs Motivator
A boss is a person who exercises control or authority, specifically, one who directs or supervises workers or employees and A leader is somebody whom people follow, or as somebody who guides or directs others, while others define leadership as "organizing a group of people to achieve a common goal.
I would say that a 'leader' is by default, chosen by the group - either actually, or by the sheer talent, skill, and confidence building ability they display. A 'boss' is imposed, usually chosen from outside the group concerned. More 'respected' for their position and title than talent and skills - whether or not those talents and skills exist within them. And just like all Cognac's are brandy but not all brandy's are Cognacs, all 'leaders' are 'boss' but not all 'boss's' are good leaders - in my opinion.
Boss say "Do it" and Leader says "Lets do it"
Leaders lead by example they coach and mentor and inspire people to become bosses.
