Theoretically, the density of steel is7850kg/m^3. But in my practice it will be varying according to the constituents or alloying. For mild steel, it is varying in the range of7200 to7400kg/m^3. So it is better to take an experimental calculation depends upon your supplied material for more accurate results.

  1. The short answer to your question is that the density of plain mild steel is7.85.
  2. The long answer is that depending on where you look, or the grade of steel that you are talking about can change this value. A density of7.88 is often quoted for mild steel as well. If you add alloying elements such as tungsten, chrome or manganese to improve the steel, the density will change. So the long answer is that the density of steel can vary between7.75 aand8.05.

  1. The density of mild steel is approximately 7.85 g/cm3 (7850 kg/m3 or0.284 lb/in3) and the Young's modulus is210 GPa (30,000,000 psi). Low-carbon steels suffer from yield-point runout where the material has two yield points.

  1. The density of steel varies based on the alloying constituents but usually ranges between7,750 and 8,050 kg/m3 (484 and503 lb/cu ft), or 7.75and 8.05 g/cm3 (4.48 and4.65 oz/cu in).
