What are the responsibilities of a quantity surveyor in the site?

A quantity surveyor prepare tender and contract documents, including bills of quantities with the architect and client; he undertake costs analysis for repair and maintenance project work; assisting in establishing a client's requirements and undertaking feasibility studies; performing risk and value management and cost control; advising on procurement strategy; identifying, analyzing and developing responses to commercial risks; preparing and analyzing costings for tenders; allocating work to subcontractors; providing advice on contractual claims; analyzing outcomes and writing detailed progress reports; valuing completed work and arranging payments; maintaining awareness of the different building contracts in current use; understanding the implications of health and safety regulations.

Site responsibilities of Quantity Surveyor,

1. Moniter the activities for execution of project after tendering & approval process.

2. Evaluate & assess the expected quantities of manpower, Machinery and material for daily, weekly and fortnightly utilization.

3. Provide assistance to the field Engineers to ensure implementation on the tantative work plan.

4. Manage day to day activity schedule and measurements.

5. Prepare frocast analysis for site requirements for every fortnight.

6. Prepare & analyse the rates with Sub Contractors and recommendation to Management.

7. Prepare Variation orders if needed at site.

8. Evaluate the claim for Escalation as per Contract Conditions.

Checking of quantities at regular interval with BOQ and executed works.
cost controlling, Billing etc.
