Hello!!

I am here to answer the questio "how to measure hte bumping clearence of air compressor"

Before i answer this question we need to under stand what is the "Tandom type compressor"

So tandom air compressor means a compressor having to identical Cylinder arranged tandomly.

this means when1st cylinder's piston at BDC position while suction stroke,The2nd cylinder's piston at TDC position,as compression stroke.

And bumping clearence means the total movement of piston in their cylinder cavities at the time of when no load on compressor.

Because when piston moves towards TDC without load its Travel THe total TDC+Cranks shaft pin clearence,

So we can check the bumping clearence putting a lead wire ball int gap between pioston & piston head, and move cylinder with mannual baring or tommy bar.as the piston reaches to TDC put extra load at conecting road,as account of adding Crank pin clearnce.

this led wire reading will give you the actual bumping clearence.

Thats it.........
