There allot of things that you can do in addition to some tricks. I will mention some as example:

- Make your product very special

- Offer a product with the best price-quality combination

- Choose a good name (if it is a new product)

- Start a strong and good marketing campaign

- Offer good service (after sales)

- Make your product visible, available and reachable

- If you have distribution channels, make sure to make them loyal to the product

It depends on the client.

Whether the client is looking for price, quality etc, accordingly you place your product or service.

I would agree with Mr. Ibrahim. In addition such step requires a lot of work and strategies, because it goes through some steps before making your product ready for competition, such:

1. Market and competitive products research.

2. Customers' needs.

3. Your company situation;weakness and strength.

4. Your company strategy and plans.

After that you should take the second step by "designing" the product as Mr. Ibrahim said

Agreed with my comrades, and always with a new product,go for a unique simple branding and offer the product a long-term guarantee to its consumers. lt ought to be health friendly.

it depends on the business strategy, if your plan is to sell your product once and close down than you don`t need any research to conduct, but if you really want long term sustainability and profitability then you need to "Create customer relation in order to earn value from the customer" that includes many marketing strategies.
