How can I select two different columns like column A and column E in Excel without the concentric columns?

By holding ctrl and clicking on the columns that want to select.

If you want to select a non-contiguous cells, rows or columns just simply hold the CTRL and click.

Selecting the column A from the headers press and hold control button and select column E. Ways to select complete column: use mouse and click on top of the column heading. Alternatively use keyboard ( ctrl+shift+End) keys to select whole column.
