Good question Ranbir.
Digital Marketing is an umbrella term used for marketing your products/services.
It comprises of search marketing, Display marketing on internet sites (banners, text etc.), marketing on digital TVs, marketing through podcasts, videos on youtube or vimeo etc.
Actually it’s anything to do with marketing that can be measured.
Remember being tracked and measured is the essence of digital marketing.
On the other hand, social media marketing is a part of digital marketing.
Mathematically speaking; ‘Social Media Marketing’ is a subset of ‘Digital Marketing’.
SMM is purely about how your business community (clients, stakeholders, competitors etc) engage with you? How is your business perceived by the broader community? You ‘don’t sell’ using your SMM, but you just build your network and create trust among your clients and potential clients.
Whereas you ‘do sell’ products/services using your DM campaigns.
