1st way and the easy way; is complete x2 sequential cells and select the two cells, and click on drag the corner handle.
2nd way is use formula to calculate the next number in the sequence. e.g. weekending Sunday date; then capture the first Sunday date, and then in next roll or column it is + first cell +7 = answer; this can then be copied down or across.
3rd double click the fill-handle to fill large range to end of data range automatically will pick up the end of the table. Sequence can be defined by capturing the first1 or2 cells.
4th AutoFill with both text and number combinations, like1st,2nd,3rd, and Quarter1, Quarter2 ....
5th may create a custom list; file, options, advances, select custom lists.

The options that are available depend on the type of content in the cells (text or numbers) and on the format of the data. You can use the Series command to find the AutoFill option and other options.
to auto fill quickly you can use ctrl + D to fill down or Ctrl + R to fill right, also u may use the new flash fill by pressing ctrl + E
