In areas where there is heavy and frequent lightning strikes, what is and how to better protect our equipments?

Our IT equipment are the most vulnerable so with other electrical appliances.

We need immediate added protection, for we have already some TVSS connected to our system but still some goes thru and create damages.

We have to design and install a lightning Protection System (LPS), class1 or class2, according to IEC standards and the risk factor of the area ( building).  The general parts of the LPS will include Air termination, down conductors, separation distances, equi_potential bonding, earth termination, SPD,...

It should be noted that a feasibility study should be made to specify the design criteria and determine the most feasible LPS(Lightning Protection system) for a specific area.

Dear

You can install lightening arrestors. Depending on the layout of your facility the complete area can be covered with a number of different arrestors with different ranges. New innovation in this field ESS (Early streamer emmision) ensures that ligheting is caught well before its striking to other things. It catches the ligheting and through a electical path ground it to the earth and hence protecting your facilitty and necessary equipments installed.
