because a learning organization is "the way" to success, especially in this times when there is no more one-exact-solution to a complex problem. Today's answer often will only serve today's question. Tomorrow will require a different answers. Therefore, an on-going shared learning has to be in the core of a successful company.
If learning is accelerate or not is down to the learning retention rate. Learning in a manner that supports a long term retention is key in order to both accelerate the learning, but also to ensure that it is conducted in a cost efficient manner. After all Why spend time on learning, if it is "only" short term.
As the illustration shows, it is imperative that learning is conducted while either discussing, practising or teaching others. These three options are best facilitated if they are conducted in connection to something that the learner can relate to. Therefore my answer to your question is that focussing on tangible experience accelerates the learning process, as long as it happens within the three arena's described.
It guides you in making the best choices in how to set-up the learning environment, in the design of learning programs to meet the needs of all learners, and in facilitating so that the learning process is both deepened and accelerated. Learners retain more. They apply learning more effectively at work and in their personal lives. Their ability to think critically, systemically and inventively increases. They become more adept and agile learners!

Connecting a learning experience to actual work will increase the relevance of the offered knowledge, skills and attitude.
