ERP and SAP would be the same thing, ERP is the concept of Enterprise Resource Planing which is the big bubble that contains the Application which is SAP and other application ex, Oracle. So, u may ask about the difference between one application and the other, not an application with it's concept :)

Hi,

  • ERP is the abbreviation of Enterprise Resource Planning, it's a standard procedure or program to optimze all processes (Sales, Logistics, Production, Quality, Finance) of enterprise management;

  • SAP is a name of software product, it's a company name too. SAP system is good and wise system which is developed base on ERP concept!

That's it, hope can help you to understand!

ERP is cheaper compared to SAP. SAP has more flexibility and can generate many reports where in ERP options are limited.

Regarding preference its entirely depend on your application and the type of business.

Businesses which are having very high profit margen go for SAP.
