Intangible asset as known is an asset which can't be quantified.
Goodwill is the value which is more than the Measurable assets Good will can not be quantified; therefore there are different ways of computing it.

Goodwill cannot be measued as it is rather abstract

Actually its an exception to intangible assets bcs it does not meet one of the conditions for intangibles Intangible assets are those which are1.non monetary2.
without physical existence3.
Separatly Identifiable Goodwill does not meet third one but still it is accounted for as an intangible asset.
