Dear Dina ,

personally it depends on your point of view :

Shakespeare is known for his poems and masterpiece in Teather tragedies .

For poetry I would suggest you classical poems like " My mystress eyes are nothing like the sun " , while for the tragedies I would advice " Romeo and Juliet " , " Amlet "  and the " Merchant of Venice " .

Enjoy ! wish all the best !

There are quite a few good Shakespeare plays to read in order to introduce you to the author. Generally I would have advised you to read 'Romeo and Juliet' since that is one of his best known works but instead I would advise you to read 'Hamlet' which is another of his well-known books but not as hyped as Romeo and Juliet's tragic love story. As for the why I would advise you to read Hamlet? There are many reasons and one is that I find the character of Hamlet much more intriguing than that of both Romeo and Juliet. His desire for revenge and his hesitance to take action, his abusive words and actions towards Ophelia, his love/hate relationship with his mother. Hamlet is one of the most complex characters in literature and one you should definitely look into.
