There are some prerequisites before start learning a software for graphics:
- Little of drawing skills; as a requirements for lines and proportion's perception.
- Little painting skills: as a requirements for color schemes, correction and retouching.
- Strong design skills: for handling layout and design principles (typography, grid system, branding...etc)
- Computer skills: for operating systems and file handling
learning process should go through3 aspects:
1- User interface: tools, menus and options windows; learning is based on order function-benefits(+samples)-tricks(+samples).
2- Reinforce skills: learner should go through a true experimental case (don't use commercial case; logo, book cover ...etc).
3- Training: by the end of the course there is a project based on a commercial case, selecting the case should be based on course objectives (Image retouching, web design, color correction, digital painting ...etc).
a very good desktop or laptop for graphic design e.g. mac or pc for gamers which is high in specifications that can handle multiple layers, large files and very responsive, highresolution monitor4k or5k; but also an updated software you are proficient and fast internet....the next is you are always motivated and love to do your job; always in passion and long patience because that's what the designers do..but sometimes when you are out of motivation don't push your self to do a design instead sorround your self by inspiring design of the creatives through browsing on the internet mostly on tutorials.. get a new twist of technique in terms of photoshop ..so in that way you are always competent and motivated because you know what is your limits.... thanks.
In my opinion, (if you are learning it by yourself) the best of learning Adobe Photoshop for beginners is:
1. Install the the latest version of Adobe Photoshop in your laptop
2. Watch, different tutorials on YouTube, learn how to use different tools
3. ("The MOST IMPORTANT STEP") Practice ! Play with different tools, create something, even it looks ridiculous. The point is, the more you'll use the tools, get familiar with them, the more you'll get command on the software.
4. Creativity. Now that's something you can't learn from somewhere. After learning all the tools, it's your creativity that gives life to your design.
Adobe Photoshop may be the best way to start learning graphics but being a professional It is my opinion that start learn graphics from the principles of graphics and use of Graphics elements in a proper way. Color theories etc...
Try Lynda.com. They have the best video tutorials.
The best way is start at the basic. Learn the use of each tools.
watch tutorials then practice
