Why is participative decision making better than delegation for a team manager?

I feel participative decision making is better than delegation as the team manager would be involved very much into the discussions made while conjecturing at a decision. While in a delegation the team manager would be getting a final decision but the way through which the discussion went which lead to the decision might not have been discussed at length.
