If the company's most valuable employee makes a mistake that costs the company a huge loss of revenue would you advocate for him/her to be fired? Or would you keep them?
i will never loose an asset or resource. he is an asset and a resource.
as a well informed and structured company we accept and work with risk.
risk management is an integral part of our operation.
i will though investigate, analyze and come to aconclusion of what really happened and shall take corrective action to make sure its is prevented again.
If it's a mistake then firing is not required but a possibility of learning could be taken.
you can not fire an employee without due process. give him the benefit of the doubt. hear him & take measures and action. be fair!
Firing not always the solution unless it is repetitive mistakes, then you can think of moving him or her to another post will not harm the organization and he could be good at
No...firing is not the answer. It sounds like the employee was poorly trained... Retrain and make sure he/she doesn't do that error again. When someone on your team makes a big error like that, corporate companies usually blame their managers for not overseeing their work. You need to micromanage this worker. Every little task he does...you need to see if it was done correctly.
We have to know first of all that, the one who is not making any mistakes, he is not doing any work.
But if by that mistake the employee deliberately has violated the company's internal policies and procedure and that mistake has questioning his integrity (ex. conflict of interest), in this case, if the loss is material, the company must fire him, if not material, he should be given some kind of punishment like a written warning or a deduction of salary, and get a written assurance from him that this mistake will not be happen again.
If this is not the first time and he is going to be a liability in the futurebecause he wont learn and all coaching and learning has failed, he will need to be warned and a file raised on him. If his record in the company has been good, he still needs to be coached so you do not get a reoccurrence of the sales loss.
I don't think firing is the answer everyone makes mistakes unless it's not the first issue they have done
Just remember, all top achiever are always learn from his/her failure and failure is a key of success.
by noticing our employee mistakes means we are learn form ourself, how we train them.
i believe in sales, there must be a team behind, thus give them second chance to proof that this mistakes will not be repeated and another plan must be well planned if the1st plan doesnt goes through so we have another2nd or3rd plan to anticipate it otherwise the good team will make your company's loss would be company' profit ( loss in one product then get more profit from another product )
fire the employee will be cost the company and spend the valuable time from the trainer.
