If given an option, what would you give more importance to, HR work experience or HR certification?

It is a dilemma, which many of us are getting into, in the modern era. With a host of specialized HR certifications being introduced, it often leads us to a catch22 situation. I would be keen to know what path would my fellow headhunters tread, when faced with HR experience vs HR certification?

In terms of climbing the corporate ladder gaining the necessary experience and then topping up with a value add certification is a good approach.
It remains to be said that qualification and/or experience is no measure of competence. For an entry level candidate  organisations may split between freshers with nil experience who appear trainable or freshers with a qualification and therefore have some job awareness.

In my opinion the HR practical / work experience is more important and when we gained the experinces and we master our HR expertise its easy to get the HR certifications.

I think proper experience and proper certification both are equally important.

If an H.R. certification is already there, I will give more importance to H.R. practical experience.

The point is: employers focus on experience when there is a certificate in the required speciality; otherwise, the practical experience is not valued, especially in a complicated field of work, say medicine for instance.
