When you succeed at something that you've tried really hard at, it instills confidence in you. You become mentally stronger and more willing to try new challenges, which, when success is reached in these new endeavors, even more confidence is built up, you try something else, succeed again, gain even more confidence, and the cycle continues. Nothing succeeds like success
