What is its recognition globally and are companies implementing it?
The problem is not getting COBIT certified, the problem is getting an IT Governance job. If you are already in Governance you might as well do COBIT.
As Mr. Leo implied, COBIT5 is a globally recognized Governance of Enterprise IT (GEIT) framework, which encompasses IT Governance and IT Management processes. It is an enterprise-level business framework for IT, which focuses on how IT can create value for stakeholders by benefits realization, risk optimization and resource optimization. Its popularity is rising, especially in large organizations where IT compliance is mandated.
The truth be told, COBIT5 is a highly specialized, high-level framework, and professionals aspiring to be certified should have a basic working knowledge of many aspects of overall IT processes, such as IT Service Management, Information Security Management, Project and Programme Management, Quality Management, Enterprise Architecture , etc. Hence, the numbers for COBIT5 training may be significantly lesser than other popular IT certifications like ITIL, CSM, etc.
